Old Camberwell Grammarians victorious at the Mens VCFA Macron Pre Season Cup
Final Score: Old Camberwell Grammarians 2 – 0 Waverley City
Old Camberwell’s Macron Cup campaign started off slow, with a hard-fought 0-0 draw to Old Haileybury. The MPL1 team soon found their stride defeating Khangthak Warriors 1-0 and Kerala Strikers 7-0, rounding out the Group Stage in top spot in their pool.
Waverley City showed they were the ones to beat going into the final, with an undefeated Group Stage. The MPL2 team took a 2-1 win over Hornbill FC, 1-0 against Berwick United and sealed the top rung spot with a 1-0 win over Blackburn New Hope.
Waverley entered the final against Old Camberwell with fresher legs, having played their last group stage an hour earlier than their rival. But the advantage didn’t pay off, with Old Camberwell’s Niall Brennan and Christos Kalas hitting the back of the net in the 26th and 32nd minute respectively.
In the end, Old Camberwell proved too strong for Waverley City, who, despite holding Grammarians scoreless in the second half, were unable to make a comeback.
The Old Camberwell Grammarians walked away the victors of the 2026 VCFA Macron Pre Season Cup.
