The first Senior Competition was formed and known as the Reformed Churches Soccer League
These competitions were born out of several families wanting a soccer competition for their children that did not conflict with their commitment to attend church.They found that the vast majority of organised junior competitions in and around Melbourne were run on Sunday mornings.
Consequently, they saw a need to provide competitive soccer played on Saturdays and the humble beginnings of theVCFA was born
1978 - The first Junior Competition was formed separately and was known as the Eastern Suburbs Protestant Churches Junior Soccer Association.
The amalgamation of these two original associations came in the year of 1983. It was at this point the we acknowledge the formation of what we now know as the VCFA, but then known as the Eastern Suburbs Churches Soccer Association Inc.
The Women’s competition boasts 17 teams over the Women’s Premier League and Women’s Division 1.
While in the Juniors, there are 117 teams ranging from Under 8’s through to Under 17’s, with the introduction of the first all-female Under 12 Girls competition comprising of 6 teams in 2019.
Over the past 18 years, the association has grown to 28 member-clubs, including 3 affiliate member clubs.
The Senior Men’s Competition has grown from 3 Senior Men’s divisions in 2001, to 8 divisions in 2019 fielding 79 senior men’s teams.
The Men’s Premier League and Reserves was introduced in 2015
and there are currently 6 social divisions in tow
Altogether, in 2019 we saw 3,467 players take to the pitch under the Association’s banner
