VCFA has introduced small sided football (SSF) format for Under 10 in 2021:

Benefits of SSF
• more frequent ball touch by all participants;
• a format better suited to younger children (not an adult construct);
• higher concentration on enjoyment of participation;
• concentrated skill development;
• higher ground utilisation for limited capacity;
• higher membership possibility for clubs via higher ground utilisation;
• easier entry for new / small clubs, for juniors
• consistency with other junior competitions.

VCFA format U10 SSF 2021
• fixtured in a standard Home and Away format
• U 8/9 VCFA Match Rules will generally apply in 2021 with the following changes:
    o 6 vs 6 teams
    o Existing infrastructure (U8's/9's 'quarter' pitches)
    o Low profile flexible cones or special SSF line markings
    o Preferred U10 SSF size goals (2 x 5m), but dispensation in 2021 for any size between 2x3m - 2x5m)
    o Size 4 ball
    o 2 x 20 minutes
